- Why does the price change based on weight?
- A whole chicken isn’t a fixed size — this week’s batch might average 4.2 lb, next week’s 4.6 lb. Rather than rounding to a fake fixed weight, we charge for the actual weight of the package you receive. At checkout we authorize your card for the maximum possible amount (the top of the stated range) and only capture the exact amount once your order is picked and weighed — you’re never charged more than what you authorized.
- What if the final charge is different from the estimate?
- It usually is, by a little — that’s the nature of a real animal. The final charge reflects the actual weight of what shipped, and is always less than or equal to the amount authorized at checkout. We email you the actual weight and final charge once your order ships.
- What days do you ship?
- Monday through Wednesday only. Frozen product that sits in a carrier warehouse over a weekend risks arriving thawed, so we don’t ship on a schedule that would let that happen — orders placed after a cutoff roll to the next available ship day.
- How long does chicken keep in the freezer?
- Kept at 0°F or below, quality holds for up to 12 months. Each product page has specific thaw guidance — generally 24–48 hours in the refrigerator for a whole bird, 12–24 hours for individual cuts.
- Is this really pasture-raised, or is that just a label?
- Every batch has a public record: hatch date, where the batch was raised and the dates it moved between the brooder and pasture, who supplies the feed, and the processing date. Find the current batch on any product page and see the record for yourself.
- Can you ship to my state?
- Processing happens at a USDA FSIS-inspected facility (Est. P44992), which means the product can legally cross state lines. Enter your ZIP anywhere on the site to see delivery estimates for your area.
